Just a quick thought about bandwagoners…

If the Lakers, Patriots, Red Sox and Yankees can have fans all over the country because they have been consistent winners, how is it that a team like The Clippers or the Niners, who finally have legit squads can’t? They are considered bandwagon. They get bashed on, hated on. Why? Because they just started to win now? Because they don’t live in the area? Get out of here. I officially no longer hate bandwagoners(except for ignorant ones). If you are a fan of the sport go ahead and root for a team that you like to watch. That is the beauty of sports. There are great players all over the world. You don’t have to be restricted to rooting for a certain team because of the area that you live in.

False start, offense. The entire offensive line. Five-yard penalty, still first down.

Referee Jerome Boger, after all of San Francisco’s linemen jumped on the same play. (via sportscentr)

Gah. The niners used to win with elegance and efficiency. Now we just win however we can. Sall good, 2-1 is better than 1-2.

“When the last out is made, the rivalry ends on the field.”-Jeremy Affeldt

I am an avid fan of sports. It is my passion. My love that the Lord blessed me with. But I draw the line somewhere. Shoot, majority of sports fans no where to draw the line. A true fan knows that in the grand scheme of things, it is just a game. A glorified, over paid game. Unfortunately there are those “die-hards” who take it way too personal. Look at all those fights that break out during Raider-Charger football games. Keep your head on straight. Yes, they are your rivals but that gives you no right to hurt someone.

Yes, I Laker Hate. A lot. But I don’t wish any type of physical harm to their fans. I trash talk, I say they suck, I say they are wack, but I do not hate the Lakers to the point where I want to hurt their fans. Shoot, a lot of my friends are HUGE LAKER FANS. But anyways, it is not like I could anyways. Hahaha. I’m too much of a softy, but that is besides the point here.

If you hate a team so much that you are willing to physically cause someone pain, you need to get yourself checked. As you may or may not have heard, a Giants fan, by the name of Brian Stow, was brutally attacked after a Dodgers-Giants game in LA. He is currently in a coma. Unfortunately this is going to put a bad stigma on the Dodgers fans. Not all Dodger fans are like that. I’m sure they are all just as passionate and Giant-hating as ever, but they know that it is a game. A lot of those Dodger fans would never hurt a person over a GAME.

I’m all for trash talking. Friendly banter. Jokes. Debates. But to physically hurt someone and put them in a coma BECAUSE THEY ARE A FAN OF A TEAM YOU HATE? COME ON. A lot of people put a high priority on sports. I am one of them. It is an intense event that brings in billions of dollars. But just like Jeremy Affeldt, relief pitcher for the SF Giants, said above, it is just a game and all rivalries end on the field.

Part of the beauty of sports is the debates, the opinions of the fans that fill the seats and watch over the television. I love arguing and debating about the Lakers and other teams I hate, about the teams I love, about the players I root for. But never in my life would I want to hurt them, the fans or anybody else who has gone against my opinion. To all you sports lovers out there. Keep being passionate about your teams and players. Keep debating, keep hating, keep loving. Sports is a great thing. But remember. At the end of the day, it is just a game.

Prayers go out to Stow and to all fans who have been physically/emotionally hurt. God bless everyone!
