One more thing about that “Jesus>Religion” video…

The biggest thing I got from this whole “Jesus>Religion” video is that even if we all agree on something, we always find ways to disagree on it. Those of us who are Christians, love the same God. How we portray it, live it, preach it may vary on each person. I, for one, stand up for the Church because if it wasn’t for my religion, I wouldn’t be able to declare that Jesus is my personal Lord and Savior. I wouldn’t have this much love and belief in Him, if it wasn’t for the Church. The Catholic Church. Sure, there are many of us who may use religion as means to justify our sins. That shouldn’t be the case. My faith, my religion, has allowed me to face my faults and accept the wrongs I have done and it has allowed me to accept the consequences that should be bestowed on me. If it wasn’t for the Sacrament of Reconciliation I would have drowned in the guilt of my own sins. I see it as this. Our Lord is like a massive tree. Connected to that tree are many roots. Each root varies in size, weight, length, and distance. Some are really close to the tree, some are really far. But at the end of the day each root is connected to that same tree(our God).

Regarding that “Why I hate religion, but love Jesus” spoken word youtube video…

Please take the time to read this. This is a message from a near and dear sister of mine, who originally posted this video on her FB wall.

Hey Mike1!

I know you saw that video and possibly shared it somehow, but you can see that I took it down, because I was told… and also I understand the reasoning… as much as the video sparks a lot of truths that we can relate to, there are some topics that are not completely 100% true. It doesn’t abide by the church, which Jesus had created for us. There’s still much more we all, including myself, need to learn.

To some extent, the video takes away the idea that we don’t need the church and we just need Jesus. We all know that we need the church just as much as we need Jesus, esp because the church is the Bride of Christ.

So make sure that as you share that video and that when people spark conversations about it, encourage them to continue their service to the church… Make sure that they don’t forget about the importance of the Eucharist… because without the Eucharist, we can not receive Christ fully. Without the church, we cannot fully receive the Eucharist. It’s all intertwined together.

I posted it because there were certain things that rang true in me, especially that we’ve taken Jesus out of religion and made up our own… but in a sense, the more we believe in what the guy is saying, especially that ALL we need is Jesus… we’re making up our own church. You can also look at it this way… I think that as the video reminds us how we take Jesus out of context, which is true. However, we’re somewhat also taking Him out as well in believing everything in the video, again, especially that we don’t need the church. We’re forgetting that He IS the context, and the church is as important.

Lemme just share with you a blog post I just read today. Hopefully, it’ll give you more light to this situation, especially us being servants of Christ.

Please especially pay attention to what he numbers as 3!

Miss and love you! Praying for you!

By no means are we bashing the video or saying that the guy is an idiot. He definitely was blessed with a talent to spread a message and use his words. The video does make a lot of valid points but let us not forget that the Church and Christ are ONE. The Church is the bride of our Lord and Savior. God bless everyone!
